For decades, mineral exploration brought prospectors and miners to the rugged, high desert of the West End.
Today, remnants of the past rushes remain - abandoned mines, extensive double track networks and lightly used gravel roads.
A new rush is emerging from the work of those long before us.
Quiet Dirt
Lower than average motor vehicle traffic makes for some peaceful riding.
Well maintained county roads are mixed with rowdy sections. It’s not front range champagne, but it’s a good equation for fun and engaging riding.
Fall Weather
Average September temperatures hover in the high 70’s, sunshine is abundant, and the Nucla farms are vibrant.
Crisp nights around a bonfire? Yes, please.

Situated at 6,000 feet, the ride has expansive views of the San Juan mountains , La Sal mountains and beautiful canyon vistas.
